Senzo Meyiwa

Senzo Meyiwa murder trial postponed AGAIN!!!!

the five accused in Pretoria High Court.

Pretoria- On Tuesday the 12 of April, the Pretoria High Court grants a further postponement of the trial with extension of extra five working days, this comes after Adv Z. Mshololo requested these days to consult with the witness to better build their defense for accused number 5, Sifikuhle Ntuli since it is stated that the witnesses are in different locations (KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng).

“If we were given the statements months ago, we would be in a better position to proceed with this trial therefore we are requesting for further five days to consult with witnesses outside the province’’ Adv. Z. Mshololo.

Adv Mshololo feels ambushed as she did not get adequate time to consult with her client during the preparation of the trial since she encountered problems reaching Sifikuhle as the Department of Correctional Services did not grant her access.

Adv Teffo was left hopeless as he stated that his clients do not even know what they are charged for and requested the state to put charges before them so that they can plea. He also made clear that he is ready for the commencement of the trial, he said ‘’this trial must start as in like yesterday.’’

“Kelly feels very positive, she is of good spirit, she has been looking forward to this and it is now here, and we anticipate closure because there is family involved, a child that has lost her dad and this is important for the purpose of herself and moving forward” said Magdalene Moonsamy who represents the famous actress and singer Kelly Khumalo.

Outside the Court  the Sister of Senzo Meyiwa- Nomalanga Meyiwa reflected on the judgement of what conspired today and she said “as much as it does not sit well with us as a family, cause we thought that today we would get answers about what will happen to the accused, but we hoping as the Judge said that we also have rights as a family and we also have to wait, we have hope that on  the 22nd when we come back we will find something.”

Although Adv. Baloyi feels that accused number 5 came to court not prepared and he is taking the court’s time, the conclusion made by the Judge was that he grants for further postponement of 5 working days, the trial is to resume on the 22nd of April 2022 09:30. The judge also made it clear that this was the last postponement.

Full-strength Young Boyd scored the first goal and later conceded three goals, minutes later before the half time and 2 more goals were scored in the second half. The Soshanguve South received red card on the 60th minute of the game.

It was the first time Young Boys suffered such humiliation, whereby so many goals were scored against them. The host, Soshanguve South coach shipelane " we started the game with lack of determination and when the Young boys scored we thought we had lost the game, we went for substitutes and after the change we came clean, we knew how the visitors were playing we had watched their games, honestly it was a difficult game."  He said.

The Young boys coach said "The boys were not so confident about the game and again they relaxed after scoring the first game because they thought they had winned the game"

The Soshanguve South FC is now number one on the SALFA league and they are only left with four games that they are confident that they will win, after those games if they win they will be the champions of the league for 2021/2021 SALFA premier league.

Know Your Roots

“Culture is the name for what people are interested in their thoughts, their models, the books they read and the speeches they hear.” Walter Lippmann

Heritage Day is on the 24th of September every year. On this day we recognize and celebrate the cultural wealth of South Africa. South Africans celebrate the day by remembering their cultural route, their ancestral lineage and the cultural diversity that is found in the motherland. To mark this day, a variety of events are held across the country

Shaka day, commentating the Zulu monarch Shaka Zulu was celebrated on September 24th in South Africa historically. He was credited with bringing the Zulu clan together and forming it every year where people assemble at his grave to pay their respects. After receiving some criticism from the Inkhatha Freedom Party (IFP) a majority of  Zulu Party, a request for this day to be approved as an official holiday was refused in 1995, it was decided that the day is needed and would be known as “Heritage day”

Various youth have expressed their definitions of what is heritage day and how would they like it to be celebrated Rehauhetswe Mohale said “Heritage is a day we celebrate culture and diversity

And the how part is to try to remember roots by wearing the traditional outfits, trying out african dishes and learning about different cultures” while Zandile Magubane said “Heritage day is a day dedicated to culture which is a broad cover of heritage. I say broad because heritage is culture and nowadays culture has evolved.

So I would wish for heritage day to be celebrated by doing something that showcases cultures. Something in which all public figures are involved so that they can influence the public to participate. Basically doing something as a country al at the same time. Like the December 31st countdown but based on culture, heritage”

Due to Corona virus we can not go out there and celebrate our different cultures. We all hope this pandemic could pass so that we can go and show people around the world the beauty of South Africa.

The Economic Freedom Fighters and the Maphanga’s family plead for justice

Photo: The outside of Soshanguve Magistrate court

It is almost a year and justice system is still not served!!!

By Herman Moloi

The family of Maphanga is pleading with the justice system to do what is right and sentence the 39 year old accused Mr. Collen Mathonsi, who confessed to killing her late lover Sebenzile Maphanga, he killed and removed her body parts and burned her.

Today the family of Maphanga and members of the Economic Freedom Fighters are chanting outside the Soshanguve Magistrate Court as they await for a psychiatrist report. A Community Leader and  a close family member Mr. David Nkosi said “this is the 19th time we have been in and outside this court, today we demand answers from our justice system, we plead with them to sentence the accused” he continued with an angry voice “ WE ARE TIRED”. The EFF chairperson of ward 34 who had accompanied the family of the Maphanga also expressed his views and said he wishes to see this case ending today.

He further said his feeling that the accused is playing a mind game with the justice system and pro-longing the case intentionally, he pleads with the judge to make a sentence today and he said he believes the appropriate sentence, is life sentence in this way it will send a strong message to all abusers out there.

The accused and the late Sebenzile Maphanga dated for 2weeks this is according to the community leader. On the 3rd of October 2020, in soshanguve ward 88, the accused faces aa murder allegation after allegedly luring Sebenzile from her friend’s home to his vehicle.

After being reported as a missing person Maphanga’s burnt remains were discovered in Soshanguve on the 10th of October 2020, with certain body parts missing.

The accused has prolonged the legal procedure at first, he gave the false address, which caused the bail process to be delayed; more recently he has acted as if he is insane, telling the judge that he is seeing a train.
